Irene Adler is a prominent American adventuress, thief, and love interest of Sherlock Holmes. She was Holmes' adversary on numerous occasions, even working for his nemesis, James Moriarty. In the 2013 TV series, Sherlock Holmes, Holmes falls in love with her and even risks his own life to rescue her from Moriarty.
