Windhoek Welwitschia was an association football (soccer) club which played in the African League, X11 Vedder League, and X11 Xpert Zone League. The club was formed on January 6, 2009 and played over the course of 17 seasons. On October 15, 2012, the Welwistchia name was retired when the Xpert Zone League club relocated to Zermatt in Switzerland and was re-branded as AFC Matterhorn. The Welwitschias played all their home matches at The Khomasdal stadium (capacity 10,300).
