__TOC__ PC Nick Slater arrived at Sun Hill with fellow probationer Debbie Keane, fresh from Hendon. A former salesman, he had a healthy disrespect for authority but still looked up to the seasoned veterans at Sun Hill. Tony Stamp took him under his wing but frequently despaired of the new boy's foolishness. Confident and ambitious, Nick could sometimes run into tricky situations by running in on an impulse, not thinking about the possible dangers ahead. He wasn't the brightest and lacked guile and political sophistication, so was often an easy target for the relief's wiles. But, overall, there was a strange fondness for Nick at the station.
