Chronological canon is canon based on the arrangement of episodes within a TV show during its original broadcast. This concept works mostly with TV shows aimed for prime-time audiences rather than those for Saturday morning cartoon show audiences, since producers of cartoon shows are rarely concerned with any sort of canon for the viewers to follow. This holds true for the most part with the Smurfs cartoon show, with character debut episodes that end up airing at later times than earlier broadcast episodes, and also with the fact that before Smurfs Adventures appeared in syndication, episodes from earlier seasons would be reused in later seasons to fill the show's 90-minute time slot.
