Billy is a child. The serial killer Alfie Kirby meets him and his mother in 1975. Kirby gives Billy a matchbox toy and tells him how those toys are made. When Billy kicked his football onto the road, Kirby stops him because Billy wants to run after it. Instead Kirby walks onto the road and gets hitten by a car. Kirby dies. This prevents Billys mother of being murdered. She was going to be Kirbys sixth victim.
