His Majesty King Mwandi III (b. 1976) became King of Linari on 22nd February 2006, following an attempted coup de-etat that took the life of his elder brother, King Kwate II. Mwandi is the second son of King Mswabe III. He escaped the violence in the capital city and fled to Tanzania, but later returned to Linari and assumed personal command of the government's military forces.
