Legitimately owned by Franklin Vargas, the Basso Oil Depot was, like all Basso businesses in Miami, a front for Rico Granados' gunrunning operation. It ceased to serve this purpose in 1959 when Dominic visited Hyman Roth in Miami and destroyed Granados' empire, seizing his businesses for the Corleones. After this time, the businesses was a favourite hangout for soldato Harvey Salvani.
