Quarian Lem was the fifth host of the Lem Trill symbiont. He was born in 2303 and died in 2349, and he was 30 when they were joined. The host and symbiont were joined for 16 years. (Starship Independence) Quarian was a counselor by vocation, and volunteered to assimilate the Lem symbiont after the previous host, Gaerys committed suicide. His altruism was thought to have helped the Lem symbiont to recover from Gaerys's trauma, and allowed it to remain viable for joining with future hosts. ("Ultraviolet")
