Thomas J. Barrett (born January 15, 1947) is a former United States Coast Guard officer and is formerly Deputy Secretary of Transportation, holding that position from 2007 until 2009. Previously, he was the Vice Commandant of the United States Coast Guard, holding that position from 2002 until 2004. In his most recent position, Barrett assumed the dual responsibility of serving as Deputy Secretary while continuing his duties as Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).
