The Alliance was the winner of the Unification War in the TV Series Firefly and is currently the central government of the 'Verse. It originated in the inner planets joining together to bring order to the colonies. While the majority of the population seem to accept (at least passively) its rule nowaday, many on the outer planets regard the Alliance as too authoritarian.
