Monthly adoptables (aka. monthlies) are adoptables, mainly Pokéballs, that can be freely adopted for a limited amount of time (usually around a month or so). As Pokéballs--or whatever form they may be--you can adopt as many as you like and are free to level them if you wish just like any other adoptable. They hatch on a certain date, maybe sooner or later than expected, and will reveal the Pokemon (or Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh! monster, etc.) inside. If you've leveled your adoptable quite well, you might even have a chance of getting a "shiny" version and possibly a medal if yours is one of the top highest leveled.
