The term "Paynia" has two uses. It refers to the land where the Paynian people and culture live on the planet of Oroia*link*. Paynia, however, can also refer to either the First*link* or Second Paynian Republics*link*, or the contemporary First Paynian Empire. Paynians developed a code and culture very distinct from Tomonia and other countries. Centuries ago, Paynia was a fledgling kingdom, a highly advanced and rich one at that. They were very peaceful and maintained only a small army, often focusing on defenses if the time came that there was no other choice but to fight.
