Hunk and the others return to the Balmera to free the natives, but must hold back their firepower so as not to hurt the Balmera. The team decide to work without their lions. Shiro and Pidge scout for Galran forces, who are strangely absent, while Keith and Lance work to disable a Galran fleet of ships. Hunk meanwhile searches among the prisoners for Shay. Soon enough he is able to find her family, including Rax, but he quickly learns that she was taken by the Galra to the heart of the Balmera after they arrived. The team makes their way to the Balmera's core to rescue her, but fall into a trap.
