Basmati rice means the queen of fragrance or the perfumed queen. This type of rice has been developed in the foothills of the Himalayas for thousands of years. Its perfume, nut-like essence and aroma can be qualified to the fact that the grain is aged to diminish its moisture content. Basmati is long-grained rice with an excellent texture, is the costliest rice in the world and has been privileged by emperors and praised by poets for hundreds of years. Rice is grown under a damp warm climate. A temperature range of 20 °C to 37.7º C is obligatory for the most advantageous growth of rice.
