As a minor league team, the Magic served as a National Hockey League affiliate whose parent teams were the St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers. After their first and only season in the CHL, in which they failed to make the playoffs, posting a 20–25–4 record, the league inevitably folded and the team consequently disbanded as well.
