In The New Atlantis General Melagius is a military commander of the Greek city-state of Sikyos. Noted for his ego, he is said to have designated an entire company of soliers to polishing his shield and armor and has ordered the construction of numerous statues of himself throughout Sikyos's territory. Upon Kastor's arrival at Sikyos to demand an explanation for the attack his people suffered from Greeks presumably from colonies, Melagius takes Kastor for hostile. In the ensuing battle, Melagius is wounded and probably killed.
