The family's history to the military is said to have started around 2525 (when the Human-Covenant War would have started) with Sora's great Grandfather, who was 18 at the time. The family tree later shows that almost all of the male members(both currently alive and dead) of his family have been ODSTs except Sora himself, and his father.
