Impound is a term meaning that cars are not allowed to be touched by crew officials, much like a police impounding. Only NASCAR officials are allowed to touch/monitor the cars. Teams are allowed to touch the cars, however, risking penalty depending on what they do. Minor adjustments are allowed, but no more.
