Format Lab is a website run by Clear Channel Communications providing digital radio streams of numerous genres for use as Internet radio and HD2 streams. It was created in 2004 and launched in April 2006 with about 75 channels of music and entertainment programming and was intended by Clear Channel as a showcase for radio programmers, including nonprofessionals whose areas of expertise rely upon music. The streams are in Windows Media format and are available for free to users. The programming is also intended to be carried on digital subcarriers of non-Clear Channel radio stations.
