Malinski was a Manticoran citizen and a petty officer of the Royal Manticoran Navy. Holding the rank of Chief Petty Officer, he served aboard the heavy cruiser HMS Jessica Epps. He was in the ship's Number Four Magazine with a work party to isolate a fault in the feed tube auxiliary cable harness when Jessica Epps began facing trouble from the Andermani cruiser IANS Hellbarde. He was later killed when Jessica Epps was destroyed with all hands. (HH10)
