Charles Turrentine (d. April 2004) was a book collector in Los Angeles. He had a collection of 6,000 volumes, stacked everywhere in his Canoga Park home. In April of 2004, he was murdered in his home as the final victim of the serial killer called the Poet, part of a larger plot to kill Ed Thomas and others. Thomas was lured to Turrentine's home by the killer who posed as Turrentine to request an appraisal of the book collection. Turrentine's home off Saticoy St. and adjacent to the L.A. River was the setting for the final battle with the Poet.
