The association was organized approximately 30 years ago as the Mid-South Chapter of the Tennessee Biomedical Instrumentation Association. In 1984 the name was changed to the Tennessee Biomedical Instrumentation Association. At the beginning of 2008, it evolved into MSBA, an organization promoting the education and training of Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Clinical Engineers.
