The 1979 Texas 400 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Texas World Speedway on June 3, 1979. Darrell Waltrip won his second straight race, leading 155 laps and blowing out the rest of the field by one lap. Waltrip's point lead on Bobby Allison (2nd) expanded to 68 points as a result. Stats
