Whittemore is a city in Iosco County, Michigan. The city is located in Burleigh Township, in the southwestern portion of the county. The community, however, is politically and administratively autonomous from the township. Whittemore is located about fourteen miles west of Tawas City and about three miles south of the junction of M-55 and M-65. The population was 476 during the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, Whittemore has a total area of 1.0 square miles. The community uses the ZIP code 48770. The city has been assigned the FIPS code 26-87140.
