Just a few years after his birth, Mainerd’s parents abandoned him because of a price on their heads. They were wanted on Coruscant for cooperatively holding up a store to get money to support themselves and their son, murdering two people in the act. Shortly after giving up their son to protect him, they were captured, tried, and executed for their crimes. Mainerd knew little of this and was cared for by some distant relatives of his parents.
