Born among the Bear-Easterlings of the Logathavuld and allowed to learn magic, Ethacali quickly became frustrated by the limited knowledge his tribe had. He departed to find greater teachers, following a path that led him to the Orc-holds on the borders of Mordor, thence to the lair of the Necromancer, and finally to Carn Dum in Angmar.
