Whitmer (officially the Republic of Whitmer) is an island located near the western coast of the United States on the continent of North America. It was first found during the Gold Rush of 1864 by a Chinese ship deilivering labor workers to San Francisco. It was originally apart of the State of California until the islanders declared independence during the American Civil War. Since then, the island has undergone large population growth, and is renouned for its large fine wine and arts exports. In 2009, the Whitmese Civil War tore the country between the Whitmer Monarchist Party and generally the rest of the country.
