Jay-Bird is one of the patients in Ward 6 of the Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital in the Season 6 premiere episode Broken. He was portrayed by actor Alex Desert. Gregory House first met Jay-Bird in group therapy. Jay-Bird was anxious and kept expressing a desire to go outside. House quickly guessed, correctly, that he suffered from claustrophobia. Later, while they were outside playing basketball, House took advantage of this fact to crowd Jay-Bird on the court and say things about closing in on him, causing Jay-Bird to collapse from his anxiety.
