Brigader General Amos M. Gailliard Jr. served in the United States Army Active-duty and a a Major transferred into the National Guard in the State of New York. He was commander of the 14th Group, New York Guard which was upgraded to brigade status under his leadership and provided support operations at the TWA flight 800 disaster recovery site. In 1951, he graduated South Carolina State University and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha.
