The term Crossing can refer to one of two things on Pern. * First Crossing - the journey from Earth to Pern * Second Crossing - the journey from the Southern Continent to the Northern Continent In later years, the two Crossings came to be conflated in people's minds, as it became forgotten that the Southern Continent had ever been inhabited. As late as the Sixth Pass, there were debates over whether there was one Crossing or two. By the Ninth Pass, many forgot that there had ever been a Crossing at all.
