Alan Cowan appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in August 1989 as the Driving Examiner who supervised Sally Webster's practical driving test; and he returned to the programme in September 1996 as Simon, a dentist who met up with Maureen Holdsworth on a blind date.
