Rhys was born and raised on Drydani. He is of noble lineage, the Severus family holds a high place in Drydanian Society. Rhys, however, wanted nothing to do with the stuffy, stuck up life of nobility. He grew up rebelling against the status quo, causing mischief and trouble every chance he got. Just after he came of age he left home, much against his families wishes and causing shock waves through the upper echelon of society.
