T'Challa is an African mutant who, at the age of twenty, developed mutant 'panther-like' powers. He fled his home-town because the other people accused him of witchcraft. At the age of thirty-five, he and his wife, Adwoa, had gotten a child, but Adwoa died while giving birth. T'Challa later met Charles Xavier, who learned him about mutant powers. T'Challa and his daughter, Ava, went to America with Charles. T'Challa later became a teacher at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. He is both an Avenger and an X-Man.
