Rulan was a male Bajoran prylar who lived on Deep Space 9. In 2369, Rulan greeted Benjamin Sisko outside the temple on Deep Space 9, asking him to enter the temple, saying "The Prophets await you. (DS9 episode & novelization: Emissary) After Sisko and Kira Nerys were sent back in time to just before his original arrival on Deep Space 9, Sisko met Rulan, who explained why Jalkaree, Jalbador and the writings of Shabren, Eilin and Naradim. Rulan agreed to not inform the Sisko that he would soon meet that he had met a future version of him. (DS9 - Millennium novel: Inferno)
