Lamentabili Sane Exitu ("with truly lamentable results") is a 1907 syllabus by Pope Pius X condemning modernism in the exegesis of Holy Scripture. It was part of the Pope's campaign against modernism in general and philosophical evolutionism in particular. Other similar documents published at this time are Pascendi Dominici Gregis and Sacrorum Antistitum. Many of the condemned statements are taken from views that were commonly advocated in higher criticism at the time. The writings of Alfred Loisy and George Tyrell were especially targeted as a source of possible heresy.
