Sterre [STEHR-ruh] is a citizen of Teskela City. She is forty-nine years old when she first appears in the story. She and her husband, Gerrit, have turned the bottom floor of their two-story house into a workshop for their tailoring and shoemaking businesses. Because they met and married so late in life, they have no children.
