Nezu candy-tufted mud fungus was a food ingredient, a type of mushroom-like fungus from the Delta Quadrant, a product of the Nezu civilization. This fungus was part of the culinary repertoire of the Talaxian traveler Neelix, in particular used to make mushroom soup. Neelix's soup recipe recommended a blend of Nezu candy-tufted mud fungus and Talaxian pigweed shallots to create the basis for his version of Talaxian mushroom soup. (ST reference: Star Trek Cookbook)
