The unnamed Prison Officer was on duty at Highfield Prison when Peter Barlow was held on remand there pending his trial for the murder of Tina McIntyre. Steve McDonald had told another officer that his father, Jim McDonald, was running an illegal line in alcohol in the institution. Jim had fed Peter hooch in return for getting his family to visit him and it was when Steve found out about the deception that he reported his dad. Jim went for Peter in his cell for grassing him up and the officer and a colleague dragged him off him, telling him that they were going to search his cell.
