During its 8th syndicated season, the U.S. version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? introduced the concept of the Celebrity Question. Each contestant would have a question in their money tree with the category, "CELEBRITY Q," often in the middle tier. When they get there, the celebrity, who appears in a video, is revealed and asks the question, which is usually related to themselves, and the four possible choices. They also have the responsibility of announcing whether the contestant is correct or not. The first celebrity question was asked on November 9, 2009 by Kathy Griffin.
