Hida Taki was a Crab Clan bushi. Like his grandfather and father, Taki served in the Tenth Legion of the Crab armies after a short stint in the Reserve Army. His father had died in a skirmish when Taki was only two, and his grandfather had joined the Damned when early signs of madness appeared. Taki was stationed in the Kaiu Wall, aiding their Hiruma cousins against the Shadowlands.
