This EX170 features a plywood body mated to a one-piece maple neck with a traditional neck joint with a metal plate. It has a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. The pickups are Ibanez EX humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions flanking an EX single coil. Other components include a synchronized tremolo bridge. The EX170 (1992–1993, maple fretboard) is a related model that was sold in the US market.
