Alan Gagan is a traditional Highland piper from Chorley, Lancashire. On Coronation Street he played the bagpipes on the episode featuring the wedding of Tony Gordon and Carla Connor in December 2008. Alan has been playing the pipes since the age of seven and competing from the age of nine. One of his teachers being the late George Walkingshaw, brother of Bob Walkingshaw, the founding Pipe Major of Chorley Pipe Band.
