Prince Modair was anxious to prove his martial prowess to his father and became a soldier in his army during the latter stages of the Consolidation. Modair died, aged just 16 or 17, in battle in FY 959. The location and manner of his death is unknown. His father mourned his death and wrote a notable poem, Loss, on the subject. Whilst Hawkwing was devasted, he also seems to have accepted his death in battle as a natural risk in the life of a soldier.
