When the Rite of Binding was employed, the resulting bond had varying effects depending on the victim's Force-sensitivity. At its strongest potential, those subjected to the ritual became utterly compelled to obey the individual they were bonded to. Individuals who were not strong with the Force were guaranteed to become completely enthralled. Results were almost completely ineffective if the victim was strong with the Force, usually allowing them to maintain their own will. If an applicator of the Rite of Binding died, then the bond between them and their subjects would be broken. Despite severing the bond, victims would experience a number of residual side effects from the ritual, including intense pain and psychosis.
