Proconsul Claudius Marcus was a Magna Roman politician and leader during the 2260s. In 2262, Marcus encountered the crew of the SS Beagle and convinced Captain R.M. Merik that the Beagle's crew should not leave Magna Roma. In 2268, three officers of the USS Enterprise beamed down to Magna Roma and were captured and brought to Marcus. Marcus then attempted to convince Captain Kirk to bring the rest of the Enterprise down to the planet as well, but was unsuccessful. Eventually, Kirk escaped and Marcus killed Merik.
