Later, Fox and Appo led the 501st in the raid on the Jedi Temple. Afterward, Palpatine was proclaimed Emperor of the first Galactic Empire; the remaining clone troopers were rechristened as the first stormtroopers of the New Order. Fox fought for the Empire for many battles but later defected to the Rebel Alliance and became both Rebel pilot and Rebel trooper. During his service for the rebel, Fox was promoted to Marshal commander of the rebel forces.
