David P. Lewis (March 12, 1909 - October 25, 1982) was a screenwriter born in Illinois. His first writing credit was for a 1947 TV adaptation of A Christmas Carol. In the 1960s, Lewis wrote extensively for Western TV shows such as Outlaws, The Wide Country and The Virginian, and many of his scripts were co-written with Andy Lewis, with whom he scripted the 1971 movie Klute. Between 1973 and 1976, Dave Lewis worked in partnership with Booker Bradshaw. Among the scripts they co-wrote were TV Shows such as Planet of the Apes (episode "The Horse Race"), Columbo and Ellery Queen. Lewis seems to have retired from screenwriting around 1980.
