The single most active Atlantic hurricane season, the impact was widespread and destructive, with over $200 billion dollars in property damage to the United States, Caribbean Islands, Canada, and Mexico, with most of the destruction being caused by Arlene, Cindy, Harvey, Nate, Rina, Sean, and Delta. The United States was struck by five major hurricanes, three of which made landfall in Florida.
