Gin's family is known as the kin of bear hounds, even though the most of the descendants were never trained to be ones and were born wild. Many members of the family are known of having a rare Tora-ge fur, a brindle fur with silvery stripes. The first known member of the kin is the bear hound Shiro. The first three generations were known of their fight against the monstrous Akakabuto bear.
