Prince Don Giovanni-Maria Sayd was a son of Prince Don Giuseppe Sayd and Princess Donna Margaret Sayd Borg. In 1588, Prince Don Giovanni-Maria married Miss Giovanna Buttigieg, daughter of Andrea Buttigieg (from his second marriage), in Città Rohan, before Notary Ferdinand Ciappara. Being Prince Don Sayd, Prince Don Giovanni-Maria was an owner and possessor of the old precious 'Sayd Princely Ring'. He was a patrilineal descendant of Sultan Mehmed II of Turkey through the latter's son, Cem Sultan.
